For over 21 years Oporto has brought the best drinks, music and atmosphere to the loving crowds of Leeds with the best food & drink, resident DJs and weekly live music curated by Dead Young Records and their talented friends.

Located at the edge of the city centre, it’s a short stride from all transport links but a world away from your average small bar & venue. With a 120 capacity venue attached to the infamous Call Lane bar you can plan or attend a huge range of events with us or just let your hair down in a safe and inclusive space for fun lovers from all walks of life.

Whether you’re dancing on the bar, watching an intimate candle lit acoustic show or losing it in a sweaty rock gig, Oporto punches well above its weight, with a newly installed PA, stage & acclaimed vegan junk food pop-up Knaves Kitchen there’s plenty more fun to come.

[Description] Gaslight Club celebrates it's 5th year and 5th trip to the beautiful Grade 1 listed Holy Trinity Church for it's Christmas Special with a massive line up including Mike Heron (of The Incredible String Band) & Trembling Bells & much celebration. Admission includes a limited compilation CD ft. artists from over The Gaslight Club's 5 years! To coincide with Hux Records’ release of Incredible String Band ‘Live at Fillmore East, 1968′ album, original ISB band member, Mike Heron is teaming up with Trembling Bells (Honest Jon’s) to perform classic String Band material from their hugely influential first four albums. Few bands could be said to embody the spirit of the 1960s more comprehensively than the Incredible String Band. On albums such as ‘The Hangman’s Beautiful Daughter’ or ‘Wee Tam and the Big Huge’- with their epic perspectives, pantheistic lyrics and visionary synthesis of musical forms- ISB gave the hippy generation some of their most emblematic anthems. The breadth of their appeal is beguiling, with admirers as diverse as Robert Plant (Led Zepplin) and Rowan Williams (Archbishop of Canterbury) professing a long term love affair with the band. In 2010 Fledg’ling reissued their first 4 albums to unanimous critical acclaim, ensuring their appeal to successive generations of fans. One of the new generations of bands indelibly influenced by ISB is the Glasgow based 4 piece Trembling Bells. The Bells first joined forces with founder member, Mike Heron, in 2010 at “A Very Cellular Song”- the Joe Boyd curated celebration of ISB material at The Barbican, London. Since then they have played at Stewart Lee’s “Austerity Binge”, Cecil Sharp House and recorded a 7″ single of Heron’s ‘Feast of Stephen’, cementing their kinship. Mike Heron & Trembling Bells: The Circle is Unborken promises to cover rare and popular material from the ISB song book and much more besides. This promises to be a spectacular evocation of the times in Heron’s 70th birthday year. Plus Serious Sam Barrett, Jasmine Kennedy, Jacobean Ruff, These Men & much more to be announced! Monday 9th December 7pm - 11pm Holy Trinity Church, Leeds, LS1 £10 adv. (inc. CD compilation!) from Crash, Jumbo, online & from Gaslight Club at Oporto every Monday! http://www.holytrinityleeds.co.uk/ http://www.wegottickets.com/event/246422

Following a fantastic summer and all round year, The Grand announce the first single from our upcoming album next month.

They will be supported by Crybabycry and the Carnabells; two immense local bands from the locality. It should truly be an amazing evening of music at a wonderful venue.

Those that attend the launch night will receive a hard copy of the single on entry - there will only be a limited amount of hard copies made available.

The B-side to the single will be a track called 'All of the Ocean', which is a song we recorded in the earlier stages of the album writing. It's a little different for us as it features purely Russ on his tod.

We are really hope that you guys can make it, even if it is on a school night!

Big love.

After much hard work and dangerously small amounts of sleep, Humans as Ornaments are proud to announce the release of our first single, The Only Other Way. To celebrate, we're inviting you all down to Oporto, for the Launch Party with our friends in NOSE, NARCS and Two Trick Horse. We'll be giving away copies of the single to all attendees, a physical CD package with artwork by none other than Tom Hudson (Pulled Apart By Horses). HUMANS AS ORNAMENTS - http://www.facebook.com/humansasornaments Humans as Ornaments are a 4-piece rock band from Leeds who are beginning to establish themselves amongst the plethora of local talent. After releasing their first song, 'Hangman', the band have played to full audiences at venues such as The Cockpit and The Brudenell Social Club. The band have a strong DIY ethos, and with this self-produced release they showcase the confidence gained from performing amongst their peers, aiming to expand on a sound that merges charming and memorable vocal lines with loud guitar riffs and driving rhythms. NOSE - https://www.facebook.com/nosenoise Big ol' riffs, songs about death and borderline sociopathy. Straddling Scarborough and Leeds as if the towns were two giant, nightmarish roller skates, NOSE have been upstaging the likes of Bleeding Knees Club, Wot Gorilla? and Post War Glamour Girls since early 2012. NARCS - https://www.facebook.com/NARCSband NARCS are an alternative rock band from Leeds. Their music veers from driven riffs and confrontational sneers to melodic lullabies, always served with a sense of story. TWO TRICK HORSE - https://www.facebook.com/twotrickhorse Two Trick Horse are a guitar/drums/bass noise trio from Leeds playing off-kilter indie rock with a healthy dose of post-hardcore. Inspired by a love of the early 90's Dischord output, 2TH produce tight noisy sounds best served live and loud. 7:30pm - 11pm Tuesday 26th November Oporto, Call Lane, Leeds £4adv from: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/247942 So come down, get footloose, and buy all our merch, so we can afford to do this more often!
