Ahead of the release of Australia-based Surf Trash’s debut full-length album, The Only Place I Know, available September 13, the indie rock band debuted their latest single off the upcoming record, “Tappin Into Magic”, available now across all digital streaming platforms. In addition to dropping the single, the band released a beachy, animated music video, directed by Luke Player.

According to Surf Trash’s drummer/lead vocalist, Andrew Scott, the latest single is their take on the phrase “comparison is the thief of joy” as they wrote this song from the perspective of wanting something that someone else has. Scott shares “”Tappin into magic” is about tapping into being yourself and not going after other people’s magic, instead finding your own.”

The twelve tracks that comprise The Only Place I Know, celebrated across two sides, is truly a mixed bag of indie and alternative rock, yet each song has its own identity, embedded with dynamic grooves and feels. While a number of the tracks might have more serious undertones, there is also a significant amount of stand-outs tunes filled with big choruses, feel-good lyrics and melodies. The overall theme of the album is strung together beautifully, touching on relatable moments such as noticing how fast time goes on, the feeling of being young, and childhood innocence.
