"Las Kellies are perhaps Argentina's best-kept secret. Formed back in 2005, the devoutly independent band match a post-punk skeleton against the spirit of Riot Grrrl. New album 'Friends & Lovers' should hopefully break them internationally, with Fire Records stepping in to show support. It's a slight left turn from the group, who have been busy absorbing the rather more difficult moments of Devo, say, or ESG. Clash is able to premiere 'Summer Breeze', and it smooths out those rough moments for something that approaches pristine shoe gaze. Awash with drone guitars, 'Summer Breeze' is about as close as Las Kellies will ever get to chilling out. - Clash “They boast what is clearly an encyclopaedic understanding of all the best bits of new wave both sides of the atlantic, plus the fortitude to throw the rulebook clean out the window and sometimes sound just like themselves.” - NME Main support comes from jangle wunderkind Alex Thompson, AKA B00kshelf, expect riffs and paper maché. Opening the show is a mysterious new band going under the moniker of Lapwing making their first escapade into the live scene, expect some beautiful new sounds from a few familiar faces. www.toonewfortheinternet.nope Tickets in Crash Records, Jumbo Records & via
