Christmas time, wistful folk & mulled wine...

We're back at the stunning Grade I listed 17th Century Holy Trinity Church for another amazing Gaslight Club Christmas Special!

In keeping with previous years which have seen the likes of Slow Club, Hannah Peel, Blue Roses, The Crookes, Paul Marshall (Lone Wolf) and many more play the most beautiful of sets in the most beautiful of surrounds. This year to do the occasion justice we've crammed in as many exciting new acts as we possibly can...

Pete Roe
The fantastic Pete Roe returns to Leeds for a headline show after sold out dates with Lucy Rose and Laura Marling. London based Folk singer/songwriter, Pete plays a plethora of instruments but is known for his mesmerising guitar and spirited piano talent coupled with his beguiling voice. Pete plays as part of Mercury Award nominee Laura Marling’s band and tours with her as well as folk behemoths Mumford and Sons. Recently they have collectively toured India, Australia, Canada and the USA but we're glad to have Pete back doing his own thing, a real treat for Christmas!
"the jaw-dropping Pete Roe who, howling “pickle me in every kind of sin” on ‘The Devil’s Dancefloor,’ is the missing link between John Martyn and Leonard Cohen." - NME

Emily & The Woods
Beautiful, wistful folk from young Londoner Emily Wood, spinning tales of life and lessons learned with a hushed confidence echoed in the sparse information available online apart from her music. As it should be this is doing all the talking with videos to 'Steal His Heart' & 'Never Play' garnering 6 figure views and through supports for the likes of Ben Howard, Lucy Rose, The Staves and her working with Laura Marling. Exciting things lie ahead we feel.

Witch Hunt
Leeds based duo with a sparkly sinister edge. With influences as varied and fantastical as Thom Yorke, Tim Burton's Poetry, Studio Ghibli, Josh Homme, Reverb & PJ Harvey and the know-how to make that work. Louisa's voice is simply phenomenal and debut single "Chairman" recently announced on Dead Young Records is a slice of Kills meets Calvi, listen on their site now.

Hot Feet
Drawing together a range of musical influences including delta blues, sixties folk and world rhythms. Clamorous in places, delicate in others; sometimes offering raucous, earthy uproar and a wistful, yearning narrative within the same song. Their new EP was produced by Pete Roe and they'll also be playing as his backing band.

Sam Brookes
Sam's Celtic folk has been turning heads in the capital of late, being asked to play as part of the HMV "Next Big Thing" series of gigs, he's also been asked to play with the likes of Scott Matthews, Cherry Ghost and went on tour with Ray Davies, who dubbed him “absolutely amazing”, not a bad set of peers for a young lad!

Modern carols from "These Men"
Our alternative Christmas Carols come in the form of male vocal harmonies, 5 "men" led by Morgan of 'Buen Chico' inspired by J S Bach, barbershop, doo-wop, Beach Boys, Beta Band, TV on the Radio, who knows what else will be greeting you with a series of classic sounds with modern twists.

Plus bridging the gap between Paul Simon and Mumford and Sons our wonderful host as always is Scottish singer/songwriter Gary Stewart. Following the release of his fantastic debut album he’s been capturing audiences with his enchanting live shows, filled with stories of love, paranoia and prostitution, he always delivers them with honesty, passion and a good measure of Celtic flair.

Plus guest DJs, mulled wine, and other surprises!
