‘Foxgloves Presents' is a platform that enables creativity and originality to flourish in its own limelight. The first show will be on the 19th of March

‘Foxgloves Presents' new original music from acclaimed Leeds based artists. The acts, whilst sonically diverse, are unified under the ethos of organic, mature music. Floxgloves nights set the standard, showcasing the breadth of musical talent and creativity under the radar, which would have otherwise gone unheard. It is a platform that enables creativity and originality to flourish in its own limelight, without the stranglehold of commerce and popular demand. The Floxgloves promotion company’s inception was driven by creative musicians striving to reinvent the status quo and promoters’ willingness to support originality and diversity in the live music scene.
The first show will be on the 19th of March at Oporto on Call Lane feature Eilidh Mckellar band headlining with support from Calvin Travers Trio, AEthel and Blue Laurel.

Headlining the gig is Eilidh Mckellar, a talented singer songwriter guitarist whose blues infused indie rock has led to recording her debut album ‘Delta devil Dreams’ in LA with esteemed producer Guy Eckstiene and multiple performances with blue rock giant Joe Bonamassa, on multiple occasions, in some of Britain’s most prestigious venues. Eilidh will be playing with her full six piece band, showcasing highlights from her album, including the single ‘Summer Daze’.
Blue Laurel are a group of 4 musicians with totally separate backgrounds from different parts of the UK who have met in Leeds and formed this alt-rock project. George, Willem, Rich and Matt are individually extremely hard working people with the same goal, combining a variety of textures from different instruments to give them their own unique sound. This has created a strong identity amongst the Leeds band scene which has separated them from other local acts. Blue Laurel will showcase new material off of their upcoming new EP at the Oporto Foxgloves night.

The Calvin Travers Trio is an instrumental contemporary Jazz group writing distinctive and unique original compositions. They draw they’re influence from contemporary Jazz giants such as Pat Metheny and Bill frisell and blend them with their own respective musical identities. The Trio will be performing material from their upcoming debut album which is set to be released in April this year, Catch the Calvin Travers Trio at Oporto for some exiting and engaging improvising that is always accessible.

Opening the event will be AEthel, a 3 piece instrumental acoustic ensemble comprised of guitar, mandolin and double bass. Drawing influence from sources as diverse as traditional folk, contemporary jazz and world sounds the trio perform Toby Noble’s compositions, giving a unique flavour to acoustic instrumental music. The trio will showcase their new material, featuring music composed for the ensemble and some of Toby’s earlier works at the Foxgloves gig, augmenting the evening with their woody timbre
