Chinese American Bear is a lighthearted and quirky mando pop duo from Seattle, WA
creating fun & eclectic bilingual English/Chinese ear candy. Composed of Anne Tong and Bryce
Barsten, the couple creates groovy, and “not too serious, food loving” tunes in their home studio
together. They’ve been described as the child of Melody’s Echo Chamber, The Flaming Lips,
Dusty Springfield, The B-52’s, and Care Bear, and their live show is like “a punk show for
toddlers.”. The duo’s racked up a few million plays, and have been featured in VOGUE+, Paste
Magazine, Under The Radar, DORK Magazine, praised by BBC Radio, KEXP (#1 album), #30 in
Top 200 NACC, featured on the cover of Spotify Editorial Playlist Fresh Finds (#1), along with
Front Page Indie, New in Indie, Chill Vibes, Bedroom Pop, Stay in Bed, Chinese Indie Picks and
more. Chinese American Bear’s sophomore album, Wah!!! (released October 18 via Moshi Moshi
& Modern Sky in China) exposes new listeners to Chinese flavors in their indie pop delicacy.
They toured the US, Canada, UK, and China at the end of 2024, and are set to be touring
throughout 2025.
